Optional sidebars on the left and right of the main window let you manage formatting features without opening a separate menu. You can also choose between a classic toolbar interface and a Microsoft-style ribbon interface. The classic interface may be frustrating because some features are only on the toolbar.
It offers an elegant interface and all the capabilities home-office and small-business users need. Click on any county on the map to view all of the programs in that county. Apple iWork
It also runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux systems with slightly different feature sets on each platform. Although it doesn’t offer online versions or collaboration capabilities, it offers a free, full-featured Android version plus a free, impressively-full-featured iOS version in public beta test. For most ordinary office and personal work in a word-processor, spreadsheet, or presentations app, SoftMaker strikes a near-perfect balance.

You can buy the SoftMaker Office suite as a one-time purchase or opt for a subscription-based model. If you don’t want to pay anything, SoftMaker offers a less-capable, no-cost version called FreeOffice. PlanMaker makes creating calculations, worksheets and charts of any complexity a cinch – from a simple timetable to the complete financial planning of your company. As it uses the XLSX file format natively, you can edit Microsoft Excel files true to the original.

The software offers everything you’d expect from a professional office suite. Thanks to the native use of the file formats DOCX, XLSX and PPTX, it offers seamless compatibility to Microsoft Office. The resource-friendly system requirements allow a quick workflow with nearly any hardware setup.

It offers dozens of templates in familiar, unexciting styles. Slide transitions range from the standard checkerboard-and-fade option to slightly weird transitions like one called, Ferris Wheel, in which the next slide appears like a Ferris wheel compartment rotating into view. The app gets the job done, but if you’re trying to dazzle an audience with a presentation, you’ll almost certainly prefer Microsoft’s PowerPoint or Apple’s Keynote.
SoftMaker Office NX Home 2021 Free 1 Year Subscription[Win,Mac,Linux]

Our expert industry analysis and practical solutions help you make better buying decisions and get more from technology. The alternate toolbar interface is shown here, with the Windows-only feature that displays Berlitz dictionaries in four languages. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Corel WordPerfect Office include a search field that lets you type in a few letters of the feature you’re looking for, and then get taken instantly to the menu item you want. SoftMaker Office 2021 is the closest thing you can find to Microsoft 365 at a lower price.
TextMaker supports variable “fields” with a more accessible interface than you can find in Microsoft Word, which pioneered the field feature but now keeps it well-hidden. I tested the standalone version called SoftMaker Office Professional 2021, which costs $99.95 (upgrades from older versions are $59.95). The slightly less powerful Standard version costs $79.95 (upgrades from older versions are $49.95). These prices are lower than Microsoft’s or Corel’s, but in the same ballpark.
SoftMaker Office NX Universal
In a note to the developers, their subscription model at $50/year is too close to the best sale pricing for Office 365 Home, which offers an awful lot that SoftMaker frankly cannot match. SoftMaker’s menus include links that enable you to create, access, or edit databases in either SQLite or dBase formats. SoftMaker offers most of the tools you would expect from a modern office suite, along with some unique capabilities. For example, it offers a version control feature that lets you preview or restore earlier versions of any document. Drawing functions throughout the suite can convert its built-in autoshape objects to curves that you can manipulate. The PlanMaker app has all the features you’d expect from a spreadsheet editor, including convenient menu items for creating and managing pivot tables.
The License is for 5 computers of the same household or 1 commercial user with up to 5 computers. Edward Mendelson has been a contributing editor at PC Magazine since 1988, and writes extensively on Windows and Mac software, especially about office, internet, and utility applications. PlanMaker’s function menu uses the same hard-to-follow one-line display of existing functions found in most other spreadsheets, not the hierarchical display in LibreOffice. Additionally, a license for deploying the fonts as webfonts with unlimited pageviews is included. Every user of that computer may use the software, but only 1 user at any given time.
Why not use their FreeOffice suite at which is always free and has most the features a home user would want. Or look around and sometimes you can get the Pro version for free though an older version. The 6 month license in the main reason I will not be taking advantage of it.
As mentioned, you can download SoftMaker’s apps for Windows, macOS, and Linux devices, with mobile versions either ready or in testing. This makes SoftMaker Office the only full-featured office suite we’ve found that offers both desktop apps for Linux systems and mobile versions. LibreOffice offers desktop versions for Linux, macOS, and Windows, but no mobile apps. Microsoft 365 currently offers mobile versions of its Windows and macOS Office suites, but no Linux version. If you’re in the market for a desktop-based office suite that doesn’t cost as much as Microsoft 365, SoftMaker Office may be your best choice. It’s more reliable and easier to manage than LibreOffice, and closer to the Microsoft standard than Corel’s powerful, but quirky WordPerfect Office.

TextMaker lets you create documents of any size in next to no time – be it a flyer, a brochure, a business letter or a complete academic paper. Thanks to its native use of the DOCX file format, your documents are always compatible with Microsoft Word. TextMaker breezed through thousand-page documents without a hiccup. PlanMaker can handle any ordinary business or personal worksheets, too.
Corel WordPerfect Office
You and the members of your family are entitled to using one license on up to five computers at the same time, as long as these computers belong to the same household. You can choose any combination of Windows PCs, Linux PCs and Macs. This lets you edit your documents in Microsoft Office directly and without conversion.

Compared to other suites that ship with components and add-ons that you may not need or want (I’m looking at you, LibreOffice), Softmaker Office is refreshingly straightforward. It consists only of the TextMaker 2021 word-processor, the PlanMaker 2021 spreadsheet app, and—you guessed it—Presentations 2021. The Windows version of the suite also includes BasicMaker 2021, a separate app for creating scripts that can automate operations in TextMaker and PlanMaker. Notably, you can’t create automated macros by recording your actions, as you can in Microsoft 365, Corel WordPerfect Office, and with many limitations, in LibreOffice.
